RECREATIONAL/GRASSROOTS | COACHES

Are you interested in coaching?  Grassroots teams are looking for volunteers to coach teams, either as a Head Coach or an Assistant Coach.

Coaches can be any Adult willing to:

  • Complete a Background Check (paid for by Natomas F.A.)

  • Take 2 short training courses online related to safety (paid for by Natomas F.A.)

  • Interested and excited about youth soccer

There is an incentive for Head Coaches where one player's registration fees per team will be refunded for a Head Coach who also does some soccer related training, either online or one of the at-the-field training sessions.

For coaching the U5-U8 age group, no prior coaching experience is required as you will be assisted by the Natomas FA U4-U8 Director of Coaching “Dave Evans” as well as Coaches from Sacramento Republic FC. You will also receive a session booklet with each practice drawn/written out for you to utilize each week.

The goal of practices and games is to get kids excited about soccer through learning basic skills (dribbling, shooting, passing), playing in a team, and having fun.  Each team will have a Head Coach, and often it's helpful to have at least 1 Assistant Coach (Assistant Coaches are eligible for volunteer hours). Practices and games will be held at “Foot Park” and the Coach may choose the time of the practices.  Games will be on Saturday mornings each week.

For coaching the U9-U19 age group, prior coaching experience is highly recommended but not required.  Some soccer knowledge is required but you will also be offered help and ideas from the age appropriate Directors of Coaching as well as the Competitive Academy Coaches that work in the same age/gender.
